A largely dry and mild day across many parts of the UK today, though cloudier spells will push into western areas by afternoon. The live conditions above show current readings for London, Birmingham and other major cities, with temperatures near 14–16°C inland.
What does the rest of the week look like?
A weather front from the Atlantic will bring thicker cloud and patchy rain to Northern Ireland, western Scotland and Wales on Thursday. For England, including York and Slough, Thursday stays mostly dry with sunny spells. By Friday, a band of rain edges into the Midlands, so Skegness and Canary Wharf could see a damp end to the week. Cranfield’s inland position should keep it a degree or two warmer than coastal spots.
Are there any weather warnings?
No formal warnings are in force for today or tomorrow. The Met Office notes that a frontal system may bring locally heavy rain to Cumbria on Friday, but the rest of the UK – including coastal towns such as Skegness – should escape disruptive weather. Keep an eye on the Moderate Rainfall Warning page for updates.
Will it rain in London or Birmingham today?
No – both cities stay dry with sunny intervals. A few clouds may drift in during the late afternoon, but no rain is expected until at least Thursday evening.
Is the weather in York any different from the south?
York is a degree or two cooler than London, around 13°C, with a light north-easterly breeze. Skies are similar – bright spells with increasing cloud later.
What about coastal areas like Skegness and the Canary Wharf area?
Coastal locations see a slightly cooler sea breeze. Skegness tops out at 12°C with partly cloudy skies. Canary Wharf in east London remains mild at 15°C, no rain.
