Ownership & Funding

DailyCity.co.uk is owned and operated by City Ledger Media Ltd., a private limited company registered in England and Wales (company number 16743829). The registered office is 24 King William Street, 5th Floor, London EC4R 9AT, United Kingdom. There are no external shareholders who exercise editorial control; all decision-making power over content rests solely with the editorial team. This structure ensures that no outside investor, corporate parent or political interest can direct or influence what we publish.

Ownership

City Ledger Media Ltd. is the sole legal entity behind DailyCity.co.uk. The company holds no investment from venture capital funds, political organisations or media conglomerates. The editorial staff are employees of the company, and the Editor-in-Chief reports directly to the company’s board — which has no role in story selection, sourcing or tone. Full company records are filed at Companies House and are publicly accessible.

Funding Model

DailyCity.co.uk is funded through a transparent mix of commercial revenues. None of these income streams come with conditions that affect editorial decisions. Our funding sources include:

  • Display advertising — served via third-party networks and direct ad sales.
  • Affiliate links — when we recommend products, services or events, we may earn a small commission. All affiliate links are clearly disclosed; see our full Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure for details.
  • Commercial partnerships — we work with brands, agencies and local businesses on sponsored content, native advertising and co-branded campaigns.
  • Sponsored content — any article paid for by a third party is labelled “sponsored” at the top and bottom. Our Sponsored Content Policy explains how we maintain separation between commercial and editorial material.
  • Newsletter sponsorships — our daily and weekly newsletters carry sponsor messages, always marked as such.
  • Content licensing — we occasionally license original articles or guides to other publications under strict terms that preserve editorial integrity.
  • Event and media partnerships — we partner with festivals, conferences and cultural venues on ticketed events and promotional collaborations.
  • Local advertising packages — small businesses, estate agents, restaurants and community organisations can purchase display spots targeted by geography and interest.
  • City guide partnerships — curated listings and neighbourhood guides may include promoted entries, clearly labelled.

Every piece of commercial material — whether an ad unit, a sponsored post or an affiliate link — is clearly distinguished from editorial content. Sponsored or commercial material is labelled, and affiliate links are disclosed in accordance with UK consumer protection rules. Commercial relationships never determine editorial conclusions.

Editorial Independence

No advertiser, affiliate partner, sponsor, business, agency, PR representative or local government body has any say in what we cover, how we cover it or whether a story is published. Our editorial team decides all content independently, following the standards set out in our Editorial Policy. If a commercial partner attempts to influence coverage, we will end the relationship immediately and notify readers.

Governance and Accountability

The Editor-in-Chief, Alexander Whitmore, is ultimately accountable for all editorial output, corrections, source review and content quality. He reports to the company board on matters of compliance, ethics and reader trust. The editorial team structure — including managing editor, urban affairs editor, business correspondent, culture editor and standards lead — is detailed on our Our Team page.

Transparency Commitments

We believe readers deserve to know exactly who pays for the journalism they consume. That is why this page exists. We also publish separate policies on Fact‑Checking, Corrections, AI & Automation and Complaints. Any future change to our ownership or funding model will be announced prominently on the site and reflected here.
